Arts Study Seminar : Weekly Class Schedule
Term Two: Jan 7th. - April 11th
This schedule will change as the semester progresses, I will be adding links to my class lectures and keynote presentations and links for readings and updates on our assignments. So, you will want to check here on a regular basis. At least twice a week. Also check my journal page on a regular basis for extra instructions and guidance.

Week One : Visual Literacy
* Over the next three weeks you need to view all four episodes of Adam Curtis' documentary The Century of Self
** And, please stay updated on our Bridge to Belize project

21st Century Literacies
I will be in Belize for most of this week, so we will have no classes - but, as you can see below, your first assignment is due on Monday Jan 18th.
You should use your journal page to take notes on the above readings and website explorations. And, I will be online on my journal page in Belize.
Before Monday 14th - you need to set up a google doc for your 'Documentary Watching Notes'. Name: 'section #: Your name'
Week Two: Visual Literacy

Week Three : Writing Profiles
Your Profile is due on your journal page on Monday Feb 4th.
Jan 21st - 25th Mon : Visual Composition Due Visual Compositions: today we will view and critique your visual compositions.
Wed : Writing Profiles : Today we will view some of your visual compositions and discuss this assignment.
Fri : Writing Profiles : READING: " Can you say Hero"?

Week Four : Writing Profiles
Jan 28th - Feb 1st Mon : Writing Profiles: Today I will talk about strategies for writing profiles and you will begin your interviews.
Wed : Writing Workshop - bring a hard copy of your first draft profile to class today.
Fri : Your Portfolio Assignment - Open discussion class. I will answer all your questions concerning this major assignment
And, we will discuss our Bridge to Belize project and consider formulating research questions and strategies
Your Profile is due on your journal page on Monday Feb 4th.
* Remember, missing a writing workshop class will cost you 2 points: Coming to class without a hard draft of your work is the same as missing a workshop class
Week Five : Summarizing Documentary : Class Lecture Notes
Feb 4th - 8th Mon: The Century of Self - Group discussion class. Please come to class prepared with notes and questions for our discussion.

Fri: I will not be in class today, but nonetheless, you should bring your first draft Documentary Summary to class and proof read for each other.

Fri: Writing workshop: bring your first draft of your Position paper to class for proof-reading.
Week Nine : YouTube
March 3rd. - 7th: Mon : : www.youtube.com Today we are going to critically explore Youtube and discuss the potential value of YouTube in context with research concerns.
Please do a little research before class and be prepared to discuss Youtubes you have discovered or created.
Wed: You-Tube assignment for your Portfolio
You-Tube assignment discussion class - We will review the assignment guidelines and you will begin to brainstorm with your partner
Fri: Scripting, Story-boarding & Editing techniques for your YouTube.

March 10th - 14th Mon : YouTube -- we will attempt to film and edit a short You-Tube in class today. Please be prepared!
Wed : Bridge to Belize discussion class - today we will review our website and discuss our observations to date. Strategies for original Research
Fri : Primary research tools: Interviews/Surveys/Observations.
The first draft of you Research Reports is due on your journal page on Monday Mar. 24th
Week Eleven : Research Reports : Research Report Template.
March 17th - 21st. : Mon: Interview class : today you will be interviewing me about my involvment in the BridgetoBelize project. Come with your questions.

Week Twelve : Oral Presentations & Research Seminars
We will break into small groups for these seminar classes. I will provide each group with a schedule on Friday March 21st.
